17 Dec Why you need to build audiences
Databases and audiences are not the same. The database is the lifeblood of your business, it’s a collection of contacts and information about the conversations you’ve had. It contains anything from their phone numbers and addresses to their families’ birthdays – it’s a crucial piece of doing business. But it’s not an audience.
Let’s put it this way, if you closed tomorrow and stopped doing business, how many people would be upset? How many would be disappointed if you stopped contacting them and sending them information? That is your audience.
Many businesses don’t have them, they only have databases, which can really affect their staying power in the industry. If you’re one of them, then it might be a good idea to think about building your audience.
