As a measure of housing affordability, there’s a lot more to what influences property prices than just household income levels according to Stuart Wemyss.   He argues that if it is a meaningful measure, then property can’t continue to grow at a faster rate than incomes.  But, despite the scary headlines about how unaffordable property is, people continue to buy and sell and push prices higher despite earning less. So is it all that important?
