It involves a 33km link between Sydney\u2019s far west through to the city, airport and Port Botany precinct, bypassing 52 sets of traffic lights.<br \/>\nThe project will result in significant travel time savings by car and bus. Commuters travelling by car from Parramatta will save 25 minutes to the CBD and 40 minutes to the airport. About 10km of new bus lanes will halve the CBD commute from Burwood. WestConnex will also divert 3,000 trucks off Parramatta Road per day.<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/switzer.com.au\/assets\/8128\/20151109-mcgrath_normal.png?resize=327%2C104\" width=\"327\" height=\"104\" \/><br \/>\nPast projects<br \/>\n<strong>M5 East Motorway &#8211; 1998-2001<\/strong><br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/switzer.com.au\/assets\/8130\/20151109mcgrath1_normal.png?resize=371%2C105\" width=\"371\" height=\"105\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Brisbane<\/h4>\n<p><strong>New projects<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Moreton Bay Rail &#8211; 2013-2016<\/strong><br \/>\nMoreton Bay is home to 350,000 people, making it Australia\u2019s third largest LGA and one of the fastest growing, with the population to tip 500,000 by 2031.<br \/>\nThis $1.147 billion project involves a new 12.6km dual-track rail line, with every full train taking 600 cars off the road. There will be six stations at Kippa-Ring, Rothwell, Mango Hill East, Mango Hill, Murrumba Downs and Kallangur connecting to the existing Petrie to Brisbane city line.<br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/switzer.com.au\/assets\/8133\/20151109mcgrath2_normal.png?resize=374%2C121\" width=\"374\" height=\"121\" \/><br \/>\n* by car<br \/>\n<strong>Inner City Bypass (ICB) &#8211; completed 2002<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/switzer.com.au\/assets\/8134\/20151109mcgrath3_normal.png?resize=373%2C109\" width=\"373\" height=\"109\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Melbourne<\/h4>\n<p><strong>New projects<\/strong><br \/>\nMelbourne Metro Rail Project\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<strong>2018-Mid 2020s<\/strong><br \/>\nBeginning at Kensington and ending at South Yarra, this $11.5 billion project will include a mix of new underground rail tunnels, stations and interchanges within the CBD.<br \/>\nIt is designed to increase the capacity of Melbourne\u2019s busiest train lines and should allow for an additional 20,000 passengers in peak hour.<br \/>\nIncreased services resulting in the prevention of overcrowding will shave 10 minutes off the CBD commute.<br \/>\n<strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/switzer.com.au\/assets\/8135\/20151109mcgrath4_normal.png?resize=374%2C107\" width=\"374\" height=\"107\" \/><\/strong><br \/>\n*by train<br \/>\n<strong>Past projects<\/strong><br \/>\nEastlink Freeway &#8211; 2005-2008<br \/>\n<strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/switzer.com.au\/assets\/8136\/20151109mcgrath5_normal.png?resize=373%2C109\" width=\"373\" height=\"109\" \/><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Source:\u00a0<\/em>House price growth from CoreLogic RP Data<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are many factors that affect a\u00a0suburbs\u00a0value.
