{"id":22001,"date":"2018-08-27T01:00:48","date_gmt":"2018-08-26T15:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/realestatetalk.com.au\/?p=22001"},"modified":"2018-08-27T01:00:48","modified_gmt":"2018-08-26T15:00:48","slug":"why-this-repeat-client-was-all-for-investing-in-this-regional-location","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/channels.realty.com.au\/realtytalk\/why-this-repeat-client-was-all-for-investing-in-this-regional-location\/","title":{"rendered":"Why this repeat client was all for investing in this regional location"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like many professionals, Wade and Kim don\u2019t have much spare time \u2013 and that was even before they welcomed their first child recently.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, this interview took place the night before their lives were about to change forever with their family expanding to three the very next day.<\/p>\n<p>The couple have been together since their 20s, which they spent travelling and working around the globe. On their return to Australia about 11 years ago, they decided to settle on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe brought enough money back to scratch together a deposit and buy a unit in Mermaid Waters. We lived in it, we renovated it. It was buy-to-live,\u201d Wade says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An eye on the future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The couple spent the next 10 years building their careers, paying down their mortgage, and planning a family. Wade says it was the thought of become parents that made the couple wonder whether they should be doing more to set themselves up financially.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBubbling away beneath that was how do I get myself set up for the future? How can we either get ourselves into our dream home or escalate our wealth in different ways?\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>As fortune would have it, one of the couple\u2019s friends introduced them to Propertyology.<\/p>\n<p>Wade says he was immediately taken with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertyology.com.au\/small-fish-sweeter-property-investments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the firm\u2019s affordable property investment strategy<\/a> because the couple didn\u2019t have significant funds to invest because of their carefree lifestyle during their 20s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t have a massive plan or vision, but I knew that I wanted to make my money work harder for me,\u201d he says. \u201cWe don\u2019t have a huge nest egg, so I knew that I needed to accelerate the wealth creation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the numbers said it wouldn\u2019t cost much to hold so it shouldn\u2019t effect our lifestyle too much and get our money working a bit for us \u2013 and that\u2019s worked out really well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After engaging Propertyology, the couple settled on a property in a growth corridor close to a major capital city in March 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The paid $351,000 for a three-bedroom home on 680 square metres, which attracted rent of $370 per week.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22004\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/realestatetalk.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2018.06_Tiller_TimePoor.jpg?resize=799%2C418&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"799\" height=\"418\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wade says the property had previously been owner-occupied but Propertyology\u2019s networks meant tenants moved in just two days after settlement.<\/p>\n<p>Wade is one of those rare individuals who admits he\u2019s doesn\u2019t know as much about property investment as the experts, which meant he was more than happy to accept the firm\u2019s recommendations about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertyology.com.au\/are-we-heading-back-to-the-prosperous-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">potential locations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a little time-poor with my work and I\u2019m by no means an expert at property, which is exactly why I wanted their services. \u00a0I liked their model, which was the right zone for me,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be honest, I trust their model and their research and if I didn\u2019t I wouldn\u2019t have gone in. What I also liked about it was it did take the emotion out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lifestyle is king <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The couple have always valued lifestyle, so they decided to move out of their Gold Coast unit and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertyology.com.au\/rentvesting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">become rentvesters instead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Wade says they now \u201clive like Kings\u201d in the same suburb, which meant they could afford to add another investment property to their portfolio, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLifestyle is critical to us and we did look at buying to live in, but it would have been a bit of stretch, so we decided to go again because we had some more equity and more savings,\u201d Wade says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we engaged Propertyology once again and, perhaps a year to the day after the first property, we settled on another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This time it was a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house in a major regional centre, which they bought for $340,000 in early 2018. It is rented for $345 per week.<\/p>\n<p>Wade says he had no qualms whatsoever about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertyology.com.au\/it-pays-to-keep-an-open-mind-to-investing-in-regional-locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">investing in a regional location<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was all for it. It all made sense to me again,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-22003\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/realestatetalk.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/A_RegionalCities_Map_watermark_MedRes.jpg?resize=755%2C395&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"755\" height=\"395\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went in with no idea (where to invest), but I\u2019m OK because I\u2019m paying someone to do that for me and I trust their judgment. I feel like it is a low-risk proposition with Propertyology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey work in a niche and they know it really well. It worked for me because I\u2019m of a view that the lower end of the property market has got room to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Within the space of a year, Wade and Kim have built a $1 million-plus portfolio, while working and preparing for the birth of their first child.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the loan for their most recent purchase was calculated solely on Wade\u2019s income because of their impending new family member but was also possible because they had adopted an affordable property investment strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a believer. I don\u2019t have a lot of capital so I\u2019m not in a position to look at $600,000 or $700,000 investment properties. That\u2019s why I like their model. It works for me,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not really effecting the things that we find important. My wife and I are living the life that we like to live, because you\u2019re only here once and the last thing I want is a mortgage I can\u2019t afford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLong-term security is critical now.
